about

The first major release from Norman, Oklahoma based LoFi Shit, "Magic..." is a collection of incidental happenings and randomized soundscapes which play out on the back of your eyelids during a heavy listening session. A collaborative effort of musicians Kelly Stevens and Brad Fielder, both from Psyche-Folk droners Anvil Salute and Instrumental Reggae rockers the Zippadells.
Hand drums and 19th century poetry combine with free rhythm and appliance ensembles to create a modular story with no rhyme or reason other than the acknowledgment of itself and the meaning implied by the intellect of the listener.
]Juxtaposed with only 4 vocal tracks- piano, kalimba, glockenspiel, banjo, musical toys and synth effects wash the backdrop with suggestive titles of science, superstition and myth.
The few vocal tracks hint to different time periods in music and understanding. A haunting candle to the Emily Bronte poem, "The Old Stoic", casts a small flicker while the gold miner's chanty, "Days of '49", is a bonfire of a ruckuss. "Fire, Sight and Serpent" is a gypsy folk ballad for lucid dream dancing.
KKSBAF stress that Music Theory is still in a testing phase and has not yet been proven. Highly recommended for those who seek the music at the boundaries of categorization.
"Magic for Fabulous Beasts & Musical Animals" is a product of experiment and imagination.
